Welcome
to the Solway Yacht Club web site The Club was established
in 1904 and is situated in the village of Kippford,
on the Colvend Coast in Dumfries and Galloway.
An
area of outstanding natural beauty, it's traditional
towns and villages, rugged cliffs, islands and inlets
with secluded beaches are a delight. The area was
much favored by smugglers, and tales of their activities
abound.
The Solway Yacht Club's situation on the Urr estuary
(see picture banner above) provides for a variety
of sailing from exciting dinghy racing in the shelter
of the bay to offshore racing and cruising.
The Club has a strong Cadet Training Section with
RYA Qualified Instructors.
Each August, 'Kippford Week' racing has become an
annual pilgrimage for many families, from all parts
of the UK.
